Water contains dissolved oxygen, but air contains a greater amount of oxygen, So, to breathe the same amount of air, a greater rate of breathing is required.

<b>The amount of dissolved oxygen is fairly low compared to the amount of oxygen in the air. So the rate of breathing in aquatic organisms is much than other animals.
