Why reactive metal displace hydrogen from acid where non metal do not displaces h2?

Non-metals donor displace hydrogen because unlike metals . Non-metals donot have tendency to lose electrons.In reactive metals electrons are readily lost and are accepted by hydrogen ions of acids reducing them to hydrogen gas.
