Red blood cells (RBC) in human beings are disc like in shape. They do not have a cell nucleus or any other cell organelles. They have haemoglobin inside. Haemoglobin helps in transportation of oxygen within the body. The shape of RBCs helps in exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide gases by providing large surface area.
