Length does affect the amount of resistance.

Explanation:

Usually the wires we use are copper and the resistivity of these copper wires are very minute, therefore it is negligible, but if the length of the wire increases the resistivity also increases but the amount of charges that are resisted are very small to be noticed by an voltmeter.
