Rest and motion are said to be relative terms beacuse. a body cannot remain in the state of absolute rest or absolute motion. example if a passenger who is sitting in amoving bus with respect to aperson who is watching from outside he is in a state of motion. but with respect to the ground he is in a state
of rest. motion and rest are dependent on each other and they are co related terms.
