Why roasting is used for sulphide ores and not on carbonate ores?

Roasting is a process of converting an ore into its oxide by heating strongly in presence of excess air, so that oxygen gets added to form the corresponding oxide. It is done on sulphide ores in order to remove sulphur as sulphur gets escape in the form of gas. ... So ore is heated to a high temperature in absence of air.

As roasting is done in the presence of air(02) because sulphide ores do not contain O2 While carbonate ores contain O2 from beginning.
So, If roasting is done for carbonate ores then on side of products formed in reaction is never be a metal oxide which cannot be coverted into metal.
