Rural women's work has always been shunned and taken for

granted. They have never received respect, recognition and proper remuneration

for their work. In agriculture they are not recognised as farmers and are given

supplementary work like weeding, winnowing and transplanting.

                The

rural women who migrate to the urban sectors have negligible skills so they

have to work in sectors of construction, processing and domestic labour. Big

industries get small employers to employ women to produce and assemble small

items as it is more economical than providing proper wages to workers in a

factory. In this way rural women are employed on very low wages.
