Explanation:

Rusting of iron is a chemical change because i) there is a new product formed as a result of this i.e. the rust and ii) it is irreversible i.e. once iron becomes rusted, it cannot be brought back to its former state/ condition.

The chemical reaction for rusting of iron is --

4Fe + 3O2 ----------> 2Fe2O3

On the other hand, in case of melting of ice is a physical change because i) there is no new product formed , the conversion of ice to water is the mere change of state by the action of heat and ii) it is reversible i.e. water can be converted to ice only by cooling it.
