For a country to be called democrat, It should have citizen-elected government holding power through a fair election.
In Saudi Arabia,
▪ It never was democratic, Citizens are allowed to elect a body which isn't the supreme body ruling the country. Supreme Power is Ulama which is HIERARCHIALLY transferred Power.
▪ Women was not provided equal power of vote as men. NO FAIR ELECTIONS.
▪ Womens were banned in several places including Cinema halls, Concert halls etc... Women were banned from driving vehicles. So GENDER INEQUALITY is strong. ( Some changes in the rules are seen now)
▪ All the citizens are expected to wear Burqa. During Ramzan, all citizens are deprived of having food in any condition. Lately, a woman was arrested for showing up in public place with western dress. Religion is imposed in several ways. RIGHT TO RELIGION is violated.
A country which doesn't holds a fair election and deprives its citizen of vital fundamental rights is not a democrat.
In Fiji,
▪ Votes of native Fijians is considered of more value than Fiji-Indians. NO FAIR ELECTIONS
▪ During colonial period in Fiji, Several Indians were bought to Fiji to work as labours in agricultural Lands. Soon, they settled in Fiji forming a considerable population of Fiji-Indians. They grew in prosperity.
Hence, natives Fijians hate to see them dominating in several fields. Attacks to Fiji-Indian households is common occurence there. And government took no action againist it. RIGHT TO LIVE a free life is deprived for them.
Hence Fiji is non-democrat.
Saudi Arabia cannot be called democratic, since in the country, women are not allowed to vote. ... In Fiji, the electoral system is such that the vote of an indigenous Fiji has more value than that of an Indian-Fijian.
That's why Saudi Arabia and fiji are not considered as democrates.
