Why scientist developed synthetic fiber

As the orginal material obtained from animals or from plants are selled in hiher prices so that it is not affordable enough for commoners to buy so scientists developed synthetic fibers so that they could have the same characterstics of the original and also they are cheaper in prices too. Also synthetic fibres have many other positives
