There is currently no way to reliably predict when an earthquake will happen, its strength or length. Earthquakes can vary in their magnitude, the size of the earthquake at its source, and length, lasting from seconds to minutes

while part of scientific community hold that , taking into account non- seismic precursor and given enough resources to study them extensively, predictions might be possible, most scientists are pessimistic and some maintain that earthquake prediction is inherently impossible.
