If the seeds are placed too close to each other, it will result in overcrowding as the seedlings will compete for food, water, sunlight etc. This is why the seeds must be placed at a proper distance from each other.
If the seeds are placed too deep into the soil, they will not be able to receive proper sunlight or receive nutrient from the fertile top soil. The seed will not have enough strength to break through the soil.
