Answer- BACKGROUND:- Emperor Aurangzeb had banned pungi because of its coarse music and it was considered as a reeded noise maker. Many of the people believed that pungi would be revived soon. So, a barber who was born in a family of musicians made an improvised version of pungi using a hollow natural stem and a few holes which produced melodious sounds.
Why was shehnai named so?
Since it was first played in the Shah's chamber by a nai (barber), the musical instrument was named as Shehnai.
