Why should a choke coil have a high inductance?

choke (inductor) blocks high frequencies from our power source while passing low frequencies. This means that low frequency signals will have a low resistance path through the inductor and will hence be filtered. If our load is in parallel with our inductor, it will experience only high frequency signals.
