Why should a voltmeter have a high resistance and a low current carrying capacity?

voltmeter has high resistance bcoz it measures the voltage b/w two points.

the potential difference b/w those two points will not be affected even if there is no change in current

hence a voltmeter should have a high resistance and low current carrying capacity.
