.why should factory waste be neutralised before discharging them into water bodies?explain?

these are neutralised because there are many types of toxic material and contain many other harmful chemicals which can harm the life of the animals in the water bodies which can after lead to death.So, before discharging they are neutralised.

Wastes released from factories contain acids.If they reach a river,lake or pond,the acid would kill fish and other aquatic organisms.This is prevented by adding basic substances so that it neutralizes the acids.
