Why should hydrogen be placed in the modern periodic table? Give reason for your answer.

modern periodic table is based on the law that the property of element is based on its atomic number. though hydrogen has properties similar to alklis and halogens,still its atomic number is unique and known to us that is 1. every isotope of hydrogen has same atomic number. so hydrogen should be included in modern periodic table
