why should India adjust its foreign policies with USA of often

The USA is a superpower and India is still a developing country. Earlier the relationship between India and USA was not that great but it was smoothened a lot in the last few years. To be a developed country and maybe even a superpower someday we need to have an ally like the USA on our side.
