As we know the coastal areas have the large reserve of water nearbyas the form of sea.So in order to protect themselves and prevent the possible life losses people shift to raised ground areas as the part of precaution. If earthquake is large and shallow with it's fault line or the epicenter near or exactly on the ocean this may result in the tsunami as the power of the earthquake triggers it.
