Seeds are treated with fungicides before sowing to avoidseed-borne diseases. However, seedsmay germinate, even if not treated with fungicide solution.

Explanation:

The seeds get fungicide treatment before sowing because the seeds can be affected by fungus before their germination.

A farmer does not do fungicide treatment regularly but when the seeds undergo that treatment, there are high chance in the maturity of seeds (saplings) and they yield of the seeds is also increased.

The fungal spores in the seeds have high chance of getting exposed to fungus. Most of the untreated seeds will not make it to seedlings. This also acts as insecticides.
