Why should the atoms give up or receive electrons? It is to form chemical bond. In which case atoms do not receive or give up electrons but share electrons?

atoms have a tendency to fill there outermost shell with electrons...for d same reason they gain or accept electrons...

when atoms have outermost shell filled they dont take or give electrons
