Why should we conserve both flora and fauna.explain with some examples
Answers
Answer:
The reasons for conservation of flora and fauna is:
1) To maintain biodiversity - this ensures that the variety of plants and animals are maintained in the environment such that no species are lost.
2)To maintain ecological balance - ecological balance is very important because life is supported by this balance. It is the life cycle that maintains life processes.
3)For the future - the future generation will also need to be supported by the flora and fauna that supports life today, hence it is crucial that they are conserved so as to protect the future generation.
We should conserve both flora and fauna because -
• The flora is the total plant species present in a region and the fauna is the total animal species present in a region.
• Now,both are important components for us because, the flora is the producer of the ecosystem without them the food availability will be decreased and the fauna consumes the food produced by the fauna in order to maintain the balance in our ecosystem.
• For example,if we destroy all the plants (including crops) the availability of oxygen and food material will be decreased in that region. And, similarly,if we do not conserve the fauna of a region the flora community will be increased without any restrictions, which will make the region inappropriate as our habitation.
