As seeds take in water, the seed coat swells and expands, permitting both their enzymes and food sources to become hydrated. This allows the seed to produce energy for growth. ... Since the seedling won't survive without water and sunlight, it needs to time its emergence perfectly. Seeds need water and heat.

seeds need moisture and sunlight to germinate. So we put seeds in wet soil so that seeds can take sufficient water from soil and take sunlight for its growth
