A bevvy of Mahila Mangal Dal members started a massive protest outside the community health centre (CHC) at Joshimath seeking probe into the death of a pregnant woman and her child on April 27 due to alleged negligence of doctors. The protesting women claimed that Joshimath has seen several deaths of pregnant women in the past due to tardy health facilities and laidback attitude of the health department towards maternal deaths.The agitating women alleged that the heavily pregnant lady was brought to the CHC at 6am in the morning while doctors referred her to higher centre at around noon by that time the baby had died.
