●Wastage of food is a crime as many people die of starvation due to lack of food.

● This puts a great stress on the economy as well as the climate.

●Billions are lost each year world wide as food is wasted.

● In developing countries, spoilage is a major cause of food wastage; in developed countries it is more due to refusal by the consumer.

●The money saved by avoiding wastage of food can be utilised for feeding the poor and hungry of the world.

● This would also put a lot less pressure on the environment.

● A lot of effort, money is spent in producing food and delivering it to people; we have to ensure that not a single morsel is wasted.
