Answer:

The sky is blue due to a phenomenon called Raleigh scattering.

Explanation:

A white light coming from the sun is consist of seven different colors such as Violet, Indigo, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange and Red.(VIBGYOR)

Among the seven colors, violet light has the shortest wavelength and red light has the longest wavelength.

The air around us is a mixture of gases, mainly nitrogen and oxygen, but containing much smaller amounts of water vapor, argon, and carbon dioxide, and very small amounts of other gases.

Sunlight reaches Earth's atmosphere and is scattered in all directions by the gases and particles, present in the air. Blue light is scattered the most because blue light has a shorter wavelength than the other lights and our eyes are sensitive to blue light rather than the violet and indigo light. Hence, we see the color of the sky is blue.
