Why sodium and potassium stored in kerosene?

Potassium (K) and Sodium (Na) are very reactive metals.


They vigorously react with water and air.


They catch fire if exposed to air.


Thus they are stored in kerosene which does not allow any reaction.


This helps us in keeping the metals safe and helps provide safety to the user.
