why soil colour is black and some time red??

Soil colour matters by the amount of minerals present and organic matter content.

When soil has high organic matter content it is black.

When soil has ferric iron oxides it is red..

black colour soil is different from red soil..in black soil we can grow cottons more because it contains more organic matter ..while in red soil we can find ferric iron oxide..
