Solid CO2 is called as dry ice because solid CO2 gets converted directly into gaseous state by decreasing 1 atmosphere pressure.

Hi Nikki !!

Carbon dioxide (CO2) in solid form is known as dry ice.
When CO2 is in solid form , its appearance is similar to that of a frozen ice.
Solid CO2 changes directly into Gas [ without changing into liquid form ] by the process of sublimation.

Hence , Solid CO2 is called as dry ice.
