Exothermic reactions take place when more energy is created in the system, than absorbed into the system.
The chemical reaction takes place between the builder ingredient, and the water, also producing a gas as a by-product in the process.

During the rainy season the moisture level in the atmospheric air increases then the normal moisture level in the atmosphere.
And the detergent molecules cannot absorb and retain the water molecules.
That's why the detergent powder become moist and slimy in the rainy seasons.
And we have keep the powder in an airtight container.
