Plastic or polymers are non biodegradable substance which are not having any carbohydrate, protein or lipid in its composition so that it can feed any of the microorganism.
Plastic or polymer composed of repeating number of monomer unit which arrange themselves in a long chain to produce a compact structure known as plastic or polymer and thus is not get decomposed easily or not degraded by any microorganism.
Microorganisms can only break down the structure of organic molecules or compounds containing carbohydrate, protein or lipid to simpler structure to further proceed the degradation process.
Thus, microorganism can not be able to decompose plastic material or any other polymer.
