Some oviparous animals living on land like hense or birds lay lesser eggs as compared to the fishes or frogs living in water because, the eggs on the land form are not safe from predators. The female here stores the sperm and fertilization occurs and then the eggs are formed that are hard in nature and is stored in the body of the female. Is is difficult to store and hatch a large number of hard shell eggs in the body. The main concentration of land oviparous is to protect the baby. Whereas, the fishes and frogs that lay eggs in water are safe. They are protected and safe in water and moreover the eggs are not hard, they are jelly like eggs and can be produced in large numbers.

Hence, the oviparous animals living on land lay few eggs and the frogs and fishes living in water lays more eggs.
