because the molecular space between the water is more as compared to air

Sound travels slower in water than in solids but its faster than in air due to the difference in the molecular formation
Molecules of solids are tightly packed so the Molecules vibrate and hit each other more faster and in water the molecules are a bit far apart so it takes time
