As the density varies from object to object and density depends on mass and volume, the formula for density is
D
=
M
V
. So all though the volume is kept as constant, the mass will be variable so the specific heat varies from substance to substance.

Specific heat depends on
1) Nature of the material.
2) Amount of heat provided.
3) And mass of the material.
Add these are different for different materials the specific heat is different for different materials.
I hope it would help you.
