speed is a scalar quantity cause it is not vector (LOL)

just kidding

speed has no direction, it just has a magnitude whereas velocity has direction and magnitude, both.

Thus speed is related to just positive sign whereas velocity can have both negative and positive values

Also speed is defined to be a scalar so saying 'why speed is measured in scalar quantity' would be just like asking a girl 'Why are u a girl'

(LOL)
