why steel is not used in electromagnet ​

If steel is used for making the core of an electromagnet, the steel does not lose all its magnetism when the current is stopped and it becomes a permanent magnet. Therefore steel is not used as the core of electromagnet. because steel is not a magnetic substance. the electromagnet needs magnetic substances

Hey mate steel is not used in electromagnet becoz it doesnt magnetize easily also if magnetised and if the current is off then it take time to get demagnetised. While the soft iron rod is used a electromagnet as it is easily magnetised and also gets demagnetised instantly.
