Stoichiometric defects are so called because they do not alter the stoichiometric of the crystal. They are called intrinsic defect because it is due to the deviation from regular arrangement of atoms or ions within the crystal And no external substance is used.
When a defect occurs, entropy of the universe increases.Though the process is endothermic, as temperature rises, the defect formation becomes spontaneous. Hence, it is called thermodynamic defect.
