Dear user !!

This is because liquid NH3 is a reducing agent. Thus, a strong oxidizing

agent & ammonia would undergo redox reaction and hence the former

cannot exist in it.

I tried to answer in the most simple words.

Hope it helps you !!

In ammonia, there is ‘lone pair of electrons’ to be donated or oxidized. The entity which accepts the pair of electrons will get reduced. So, Ammonia is the “reducing agent” and strong oxidizing agents do not exist in liquid ammonia.

EXPLANATION:

A strong oxidizing agent is the substance which  can oxidize other substances which causes to lose electrons. The oxidizing agents are 'Oxygen', 'Hydrogen peroxide', 'halogens' etc.

The nitrogen atoms present in Ammonia have '-3' as the oxidation number.
