Why sulphuric acid is added during electrolysis of water?

wait i will explain you.

pure water is a non conductor of electricity.so if we take pure water

electrolysis cannot be done.

By adding sulphuric acid , we kind of make water impure.so as to catalyze the process of electrolysis.We choose h2s04 in preference to others because it is a non volatile acid.and rest like hcl and hn03 are volatile.

the s04^2- ions of sulphuric acid react with h^+ions of water ans oh^-1 reacts with h^+ thus breaking the bind which then allows electricity to pass through..
