why sunset and sunrise are red ?

During sunrise n sunset..the light has to travel long distance to reach from the sun to an observer's eye . So a large number of blue n violet light has been scattered. Thus the light that is recieved by an observer is of longer wavelength . Thus the sun appears red during sunrise n sunset . HOPE IT HELPED :) Regards ilml
