why tan value of angle is taken as the slope?why not any other ratio?

slope is actually Rise/Run=perpendicular/base=tantheta=slope

Slope is the ratio of the rise and run of the line.

Rise means the perpendicular distance of the line from x - axis and run means the perpendicular distance from y - axis.

Rise / Run = Perpendicular / base = tanA

Therefore, tan is only taken into consideration when we have to find the slope of a straight line.
