The temperature of the ice remains constant for sometime when it change from the solid state to the liquid state.
===================================
As if we go to study the definition of latent heat:
Amount of heat energy required to change the state of a body from one state to another without anything any actual change in temperature is called latent heat.
So in melting of ice here Latent heat is used and this cause that not any change in temperature of ice to water.
