This is so because bryophytes can live both in water and on land. They live in dark spaces also.. They do not have a vascular tissue..Another reason can be that they require water for fertilization, hence they are amphibians...They live in dark spaces.
Examples-moss(funaria),Riccia etc.

the bryophytes are called as amphibians of kingdom plantae because these contains plants like Ricca ,moss, funaria in which vascular tissue is absent but they are autotrophic and hence are called bryophytes
As we know that amphibians is nothing but the animals who live in both land and water and these bryophyta also found in both land and water and hence are amphibians of Kingdom plantae
