"Lord Ullin's Daughter" is a famous poem by Thomas Campbell. Well, cheiftain loved Lord Ullin's daughter a lot. Poor girl she was. He father never wanted them to be one, he did not want them to live together. One day, Chieftain and the daughter escaped from their homes and ran to a destination that was never planned. Behind them was Lord Ullin. Hence, the Chieftain asked the boat man to hurry up.

Answer:
She says this because she is very afraid of being separated from her beloved if the armed men catch up as they are sure to kill her lover, the Chieftain. So she cries and tells the boatman to hurry and row the boat faster.
