the colour of hair is black when we r young bcoz when we r young there is excess of melanin present in our hair.....which gradually fades as we grow old as the content of melanin in our hair decreases........Melanin is a pigment present in our skin and hair which determines our skin or hair colouration.......

hi there!! here is our answer to the question.... The black colour of hair is because of the large amount of eumelanin a type of melanin pigment. Hair are composed of dead cells and therefore have no blood vessels or nerve cells attached to it, as there is no nerve cell there would be no feeling of pain. Hence, you do not feel pain when you cut your hair.
