Shehnai was brought to the classical stage by Ustad Bismillah Khan. He started picking up the finger nuances of Shehnai under the guidance of his maternal uncle Ali Bux. He had been honoured with Padma Bhushan, Padmashree and Padma Vibhushan.

Answer:

Bismilla Khan was a well known shehnai player of India.

Explanation:

He took it to music very early in life. When he was just 3, his mother took him to his maternal uncle's house. He saw his uncle and practiced hard.

With the breaking of the all India radio programs, he started playing the shehnai and soon became an often heard shehnai player on the radio. On August 15 1947, Bismilla became the first one to greet the country with his shehnai to an audience including Jawaharlal Nehru.

He also performed abroad in different musical shows. Earlier, the shehnai was only used in temples but Bismilla Khan changed this by bringing it up to the classical stage.
