Why the cutting tools like knives have sharp edges?

the main purpose of the knives are to cut an object with easiness and also to get a clean cut . for eg if you want to cut thin slices of cake . you should use a sharp knife because it becomes easy for you to cut as well as get a good clean finish but if you use a blunt knife it will surely wont give you a good slice of cake . hope this helps!!

The cutting tools like knives have sharp edges because it decreases the surface area which helps to cut the vegetable or anything easily by applying a small force while in a blunt one surface area is more hence it becomes difficult to cut through it.          Hope this will help you
