Answer:

Various chemical reactions occur in it to keep the cell in the ‘living state’. Though biochemical reactions occur all over a cell, important reactions related to maintaining osmolarity, resting potential (in neurons, muscles and othe electrically excitable cell) occur in cytoplasm - which keeps it 'alive'

The cytoplasm is main arena of cellular activity because:

The cytoplasm in animal and plant cell refers to plasma constituting various cell organelles to specific function enclosed by membrane. It is also called as cytosol, cytoplasmic matrix, hyaloplasm. They are gell like substance.

The cell cytoplasm is made up of different cell organelles like mitochondria, nucleus, ribosomes, endoplasmic reticulum and golgi bodies which perform various activity to maintain the normal body functioning.

The cytoplasm is the medium of contact for all these organelles also helps in the transportation of material around the cell and also remove the waste material out of cell.
