there was huge demand for Indian indigo in european markets because of its fine quality and attractive dark colour .But the indigo cultivated in Europe did not have that much fine quality and dark colour so Indian peasants were forced to cultivate indigo by the east India company and they exported it to Europe at cheap rates and sold them in the markets of Europe at high price.
