The elections were not fair due to the unfair means used by Institutional Revolutionary Party.
- Since the nation's independence, the polls for the presidency have been held every six years.
- Not even once had the military or a dictator ruled the nation. But up until the year 2000, an association won every poll.
- The party was PRI or the institutional Revolutionary Party.
- Leftist parties managed elections, although they were seldom successful. The party's dishonest tactics for winning seats were well-known.
- Everyone who worked for the government was required to go to its party gatherings. Government school teachers once coerced parents into voting for this party.
- The opposition political parties' actions were mostly disregarded by the media outside of criticism.
- Voters found it challenging to cast their ballots because polling places were occasionally moved at the last minute.
